Favorite Item in 2008 = PANERAI PAM 317

People know that I'm a Panerai fanatic.. Panerai is a watch company and their's is the only timepiece that I fuck with. Panerai and Porsches are two main ingredients I look into for inspiration when I design.

And now without further adieu...The black fiddy released as the PAM 317 Luminor 1950 Ceramic 8 days Chrono Monopulsante GMT. It has a 44mm 1950 ceramic case and bezel, with black PVD’d P2004/B 8 days chrono, hand wound movement. $25k retail (presold out)...$35k street price!!!

Kanye - The Creative Process

Stronger Revisited from Kanye West on Vimeo.

This is a nice inside look at how songs are born and mixed and remixed and remixed and remixed...and how the final product comes about. Kanye West is truly a perfectionist.

BUT ANYWAY, LET US ALL HOPE THAT HE MAY ONE DAY GIVE UP THE AUTOTUNE AND GET BACK TO BASICS. PLEASE KANYE, PLEASE!

As we crossover from 2008 to 2009...

First we pay homage to the original killer-crossover: Tim "I got skillz" Hardaway

Then on to the Top 10 best crossovers of 2008 from NBA TV. The funniest shit - Steve Blake is on #7 and #10...both times getting crossed by Nate Robinson. hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!

And lastly, Dwade's crossing of some scrub from Utah.

YOU THINK YOU'RE GOOD AT GUITAR HERO? This Japanese kid is your real life guitar hero. Watch this lil madafaka get down!!!

Me and the Magic Man

"Rollin' down the Imperial Highway
With a big nasty redhead at my side
Santa Ana winds blowin' hot from the north
And we as born to ride

Roll down the window put down the top
Crank up the Beach Boys baby
Don't let the music stop
We're gonna ride it till we just can't ride it no more

>From the South Bay to the Valley
>From the West Side to the East Side
Everybody's very happy
'Cause the sun is shining all the time
Looks like another perfect day

I love L.A. (We love it)
I love L.A. (We love it)

Look at that mountain
Look at those trees
Look at that bum over there, man
He's down on his knees
Look at these women
There ain't nothin' like 'em nowhere

Century Boulevard (We love it)
Victory Boulevard (We love it)
Santa Monica Boulevard (We love it)
Sixth Street (We love it, we love it)

I love L.A."

-Randy Newman

That Randy Newman song ruled my childhood. The championships, the Riley "Next Year We're Going To Do It again" Guarantee, the smashing of the Sixers, Celtics and Pistons....I still have it all in a vault full of VHS tapes. Growing up in Los Angeles in the 80's, I was a witness to the greatest basketball player to have ever laced it up.

When Magic rolled by the shop the other day and we were able to lace him up with a few Fly Or Die tees, it was ALL OVER. You can see my nerves through the pics. I was standing and talking to the Magic Man Earvin Johnson. I was like the Joker with my fuckin grin the whole time I chatted with him, no joke, haha!

I'm getting a replica of the Magic Staples Center statue erected in the shop. Anyone know who can make this for me??

Local Legend and Valley-Boy...Jordan Farmar

Farmar was born in Los Angeles, California. Farmar attended Portola Middle School (like yours truly!!) in Tarzana and Birmingham High School in Van Nuys, before transferring his sophomore year to Taft High School in Woodland Hills, a suburban community of the San Fernando Valley within Los Angeles. At Taft High School, Farmar scored a record 54 points in a single game. He decided to play college basketball at UCLA and eventually went on to the NBA as a starting poing guard with the LA Lakers.

JORDAN WON HIS FIRST NBA CHAMPIONSHIP ALONG SIDE KOBE BRYANT, PAU GASOL, ANDREW BYNUM AND LAMAR ODOM IN JUNE 2009!!!!!

Dope new track produced by the one and only K.West in the building...They brought in the big guns for this one: T.I.,Kanye,Hove,Weezy!

New Music: T.I. [ft. Kanye West, Jay-Z and Lil Wayne]: "Swagger Like Us" [Stream]

Last year, M.I.A.'s summery shoot-em-up "Paper Planes" emerged as the kind of track that pop and underground music fans of all stripes could rally behind. The remix with Bun B and Rich Boy took the Kala cut's bass-buzzing, register-ringing Robin Hood stance deeper into outlaw territory-- the mean streets and Sherwood Forest-- correctly noted that poverty was a condition one is born into rather than something one brings on himself, and wound up as our #4 track of 2007. In recent weeks, the use of "Paper Planes" in the trailer for Seth Rogen stoner action-comedy Pineapple Express has propelled the track as high as #5 in the Hot 100. In the process, Clap Clap blogger Mike Barthel suggests, the movie ad brings Kala's translation of drug-dealing hustle into third-world hustle back home as a critique of white American gangstaism. A thousand miles an hour, indeed.
New West-produced T.I. track "Swagger Like Us", which samples a bit of the Clash-sampling "Paper Planes", reclaims the song for hip-hop. It's basically a Who's Who of critically acclaimed, top-selling rappers, with Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Lil Wayne all joining T.I. as M.I.A.'s voice repeats, "No one on the corner has swagger like us." But it's also one of the song's least inventive uses yet, blasting off with spaceship-like sound effects even as West and Wayne run T-Pain Auto-Tune into the ground. "I'm Christopher Columbus/ Y'all just pilgrims," West announces. Um, thanks? On West's blog, he calls this "the rap Olympic team," but the individual performances don't come together well enough to garner this team the gold. (via HipHopDX)

Sole Junkie is a heavyweight in shoe customizing. Check out his site at www.solejunkie.com

L.A.LIENS is a brand new company with underground roots. They have opted to remain anonymous so don't look for them, they will find you. L.A.LIENS will hit you with new releases randomly and at random stores. They live strictly by their creed: "GIVE ME THE FORTUNE; KEEP THE FAME"

Why is the bear shooting the bird?

Our Fly Or Die name and original “California Streets” flag logo have generated a lot of attention in the streetwear industry.

It's about reaching a higher level. The bear represents the doubters.. which we all need to push us to new heights...

IT'S ALSO ABOUT GETTING RICH OR DIE TRYING.
